Where Are They Now? Checking in with Madisyn
Imagine with me...
You’ve always dreamed about a career doing hair, skin and nails. You decide to take the plunge and explore. You enroll in Cosmetology school, you attend class, you grow in your passion, and you pick up some new ones too, you graduate. Then what?
Then what?
Those haunting two-words have stopped many a future hairstylist from taking the necessary steps to achieve their dreams in the beauty industry.
Well, we’re here to dream with you and to share where this beautiful road has taken our graduates in the hopes that their stories will encourage you and give you enough hope to move forward with your dreams too.
Meet Madisyn! Madisyn graduated from our Cosmetology program in February of 2024. Since then, her road in beauty has brought a lot of unexpected, but exciting, turns.
In the 4 months since graduating school, Madisyn has partnered with McDonald’s and ItCosmetics. Nope, no typos there! I told you it was exciting, didn’t I?
She’s also been invited to Miami Swin Week and taken part in two photoshoots. Though now a licensed Cosmetologist, she considers her main job to be Marketing and Content Creation as she’s constantly being offered new opportunities.
“I joined cosmetology school because I always knew I was meant to do hair. I always knew that college wasn't for me...My favorite part of school was being friends with all of my classmates and staff and doing what I love in school.” Her biggest takeaway and advice? Do something. Especially if you’re afraid.
When she started our program, she had just moved from New York and knew no one. She’ll tell you now that she was so scared then, but she’s so glad she pushed through to start school. Madisyn says it was, “the best decision I ever made.”
Madisyn also shared that the challenges continued past graduation too. “The most challenging thing was adapting to the fast-paced environment. Working at Sport Clips requires you to be quick while still paying attention to detail.”
To stay motivated, Madisyn sticks to a routine. Keeping a consistent work and personal schedule has helped her feel her best and helps her to prevent over-working. Personal time has been key to helping her feel her best physically and mentally.
“My advice for incoming students would be to not compare yourself to others. It can be intimidating to not catch on to something as fast as others but, if you slow down and practice, you'll accomplish anything you want to.”
With one dream down and many more to go, her next dream includes moving to Europe with her boyfriend and opening a large, full-service salon. "I love being in charge of my own schedule and also would love to create a positive work environment for others. Quality of life is so important to me, so my main goal is to create an enjoyable work environment for all my employees,” explains Madisyn. A mission that is near and dear to our hearts as well!
Be sure to follow along with Madisyn’s journey as she continues to conquer her dreams and works to live her best life every day. Hopefully, you’ve been encouraged to reach for your “best day” too.
